Private property developers v/s Govt agencies

Magicbricks.com moderator says: Our user from Chandigarh wants to pick up a flat in Rs 30-40 lakh budget. He is keen on buying a 3 bed-room house in the prime sectors. However, he is not sure if he should go for private developers or buy this flat from govt agencies (Chandigarh Housing Board).

The government agencies usually deliver average quality of construction but are considered reliable by home buyers. Private developers promise all amenities but there have been instances when only handful of these things were handed over to the users.

What should a home seeker prefer – a private builder or govt agency? What would you prefer? Send in your answers in the comments section. Else, send them to

govt accomodation is shoddy. Look at what DDA constructs. I would pay more but go to a private developer.
